JB Priestley,
or John Boynton Priestley, often simply called Jack, was born in
Bradford, England, in 1894, and died in Stratford-upon-Avon in 1984. His
best-known play is probably An Inspector Calls (1946), and his
novels The Good Companions (1929) and Angel Pavement
(1930) established him as a successful popular novelist.
